Even in a struggling economy Ameristar Casinos’ (ASCA: 18.22 -2.98%) employees continue to help those with spinal cord injuries in the name of founder and late Chairman Craig H. Neilson by donating over $61 thousand to Saint Alphonsus Rehabilitation Services.

For the sixth consecutive year the Ameristar Cactus Pete’s Resort Casino in Jackpot Nevada through the “Ameristar Cares Workplace Giving Campaign” which raises money from employee contributions and is matched by Ameristar raised $36,801 for the hospital’s inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation programs. Another $24,534 was also donated to the organization from the Craig H. Neilsen foundation.

In the past six years, the casino has donated more than $500,000 to Saint Alphonsus’s rehabilitation Services.

Saint Alphonsus said they would be using the donation to help purchase new equipment.
