Penn National Gaming (PENN: 26.56 0.00%) awaits the results from today’s polls to determine if they will be allowed to place table games along side the 5,000 slot machines in operation at the Charles Town Races & Slots in West Virgina.

Voters have until 7:30 this evening to cast their votes on the referendum, however more than 10 percent of Jefferson County’s registered voters have already cast early ballots. Two years ago the gaming expansion was put before voters and rejected largely because of a lack of voter turnout.

If the bill passes representatives from the casino say it will still be at least six months before gamblers will be playing table games. John Finamore, Senior Vice President for Penn National explained that it would take at least that long to hire and train dealers.

While other West Virgina counties have already legalized the expansion and launched table games with poker first, Charles Town said they will most likely start with blackjack, craps and roulette.
