Las Vegas Sands (LVS: 20.06 +7.33%) is preparing for the imminent opening of its new casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania near the end of May. To test systems and readiness the casino gambling company will operate a dry run on May 18th and 20th, with all proceeds going to charity.

The Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem is scheduled to open to the general public May 22nd. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has given permission for Sands to invite guests to test operational procedures.

Since the actual gaming will not be permitted until the 22nd, casino winnings will be donated by Las Vegas Sands to a series of thirteen charities.

The organizations were not named by Sands officials, but they are all from the Bethlehem area, a region of the US that has been economically depressed for some time.

The casino is located at the site of the old Bethlehem steel mill, previously the life-blood of the local economy.
