Less than one day before Las Vegas Sands (LVS: 47.15 -2.72%) and rival Singapore operator Resorts World Sentosa were ordered to cease buss shuttle services from downtown and heartland areas, Marina Bay Sands voluntarily suspended its services to locals.

While Marina Bay Sands says their goal since opening the $5.7 billion resort in June “has been to service international tourists” they have also set up shuttle stops in areas that make it easy for local gamblers to get to the casino.

Growing concerns from the Ministry of Community, Youth and Sports that the shuttle services made it too easy for locals to get to the resorts promoted Friday’s directive that both resorts immediately halt all shuttle services expect those allowed under established gaming laws.

A Marina Bay spokeswoman commented on the order by saying that Sands voluntarily suspended its licensed paid bus routes servicing Orchard Road and Central Business District/Chinatown as well as its free shuttles that serviced certain hotels as of midnight Thursday, ahead of Friday’s directive.

Airport shuttle services will remain operations and free only to hotel guests.
