MGM Brings World Class Luxury Shopping To Vegas
The second phase of the City Center opening is under way today as MGM Mirage (MGM: 11.10 0.00%) opens the retail and entertainment district Crystals at 5 o’clock this evening.
With more than half a million square feet of luxury shops, restaurants and entertainment venues the gaming company envisions luring regular spenders from Beverly Hills, Palm Springs and Orange County. Although, Crystals’ retailers also hope it will become a premier shopping destination for Las Vegas residents.
Participating retailers include Tiffany, Cartier and Louis Vitton, dining establishments include restaurants by Wolfgang Puck, Eva Longoria and Todd English. The complex will open with only a 40% occupancy rate and several committed retailer’s plan on staggering their grand openings separate from the district because of the economy.
Crystals is the world’s largest retail center to receive the LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
Unlike many resort malls along the strip MGM fully owns Crystals.
The City Center will open the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas on December 4 and the final grand opening celebration focusing around the ARIA Resort & Casino on December 16.
