MGM Denies Tiger Rumors
A representative from MGM Mirage (MGM: 11.10 0.00%) denied reports that the Tiger Woods’ annual charity event, Tiger Jam had been canceled. The concert event has been held in Las Vegas since 1999 at the Mandalay Bay casino resort and is one of the largest annual charity events on the strip.
Wednesday multiple sources reported that the 2010 event had been officially canceled in the midst of the golfer’s recent sex scandal after the event’s main sponsor, AT &T released a statement saying that they were “evaluating” its relationship with Woods.
The Tiger Woods Foundation responded to the reports by saying, “There is nothing new to announce regarding Tiger Jam at this time. We hope to announce a date once it has been finalized. A number of factors go into determining the date, including the Tiger Woods Foundation schedule and artist availability.”
The Tiger Jam features an A list lineup of musical and comedy performers and a number of celebrities in the audience.
Reports have said that in recent years the event has raised more than $10 million for charities. 70% of the concerts proceeds are donated to charity and the remaining 30% benefits MGM and Las Vegas.
