Penn Pitches Table Games To Casino Control Board
Executives from Penn National Gaming (PENN: 29.91 +3.03%) made their pitch to the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today at a public hearing required to complete an application to install table games.
Company officials told the board that over the next six month, the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course would spend $8.5 million to upgrade the casino.
The upgrades would include the installation of surveillance equipment, lighting and equipment for the games.
John Finamore, Senior Vice President said that they would replace a number of slot machines to make way for poker, roulette and blackjack and anticipated the change to attract younger clientele that would help enhance horse racing at the track.
Other benefits outlined at the hearing included the creation of 200 jobs and annual tax revenue for the state of over $5 million.
The Board will make its final decision late next month. As per ordinances approved with the gaming expansion bill, the board has 60 days to conduct due diligence and vote on the matter. Penn’s date is May 5, 2010.
